What is your hobby
Once I was asked what my hobby is. I thought a lot, thinking what to answer, cause hobby implies an action you spend a lot of time to and enjoy. After a while, I said firmly: “Reading”.
And that’s true.
I don’t just sometimes sit with a book on a sofa or killing my time in the subway on my way to work or back gobbling another best-seller downloaded to my iPhone before coming out of the flat. No, I really like to spend most of my free-time reading. I started to read a lot in the last year of school just after I found a book with a “strange” cover: a boy in a red cap shown from his back. I thought “what a strange cover” because before this I seen things like this on serious books. Bright covers like that one, I thought, it is something for little kids or young teenagers and that one I was holding was really too “fat” to be one of that kind! Intrigued, I started to read somewhere from the middle and swallowed it at one evening! Only after I read the last words and closed the book I looked at the title. That was “The catcher in the rye”. Like the author says, I always wanted to read a book whose author you can then once call and speak to!
So after this I really started being interesting in reading. First I hunted for the books with “cool” covers. Not all of them were “good reading”, though! L J Then I saw little text sometimes published before or after the author’s text. I started to look through them in the books I liked. That was critics. There I found many names of many authors who were compared to ones whose books I had in my arms. And of course, I started to read those “compared” ones. After a while I saw that from all the books in the world less than one per cent really worth reading! And now finding those ones and reading them really became my passion and something I devote a significant amount of my time to. So, I really can say that my hobby is READING!
